Nest Cam Intro

We decided to operate a "NestCam" so our web site visitors can enjoy the sites of the bluebirds as they are raised by their parents. I expect to have the camera operating from about 7am to dusk, 7 days-a-week. If the camera is offline, you will get a error message to the effect that you could not connect to WebCam32, or there will just be a grey box. Since weather may affect the amount of light available to the camera, I have included the weather info for Maine, NY.

Status Update: Check out the latest status or ask a question in the message board.

My 5 year old son was so excited to see this. We have 2 bluebirds in our back yard that he would rather watch than TV. Thank you for allowing him to look at a mother in her nest.

Hey Jim, gotta love the nestcam! One suggestion, a Browns logo would look great in that nest, maybe the Browns would even pay you for showing it!

Orchard Park, NY::I have a pair nesting in my schoolyard nesting box - 5 eggs

Jun 1, 2008 at 05:29:14Virginia Flood
Pawling, NY Dutchess County::::Last year we had a pair of bluebirds nest and had a clutch I think. I never saw the fleglings. I didn't know you could "check the nest" so, I left it alone. This year the same pair or a different one built a nest in the same box. I did view the male fighting with another bird of a different type. I feed the bluebirds mealworms. I have a lucite feeder that attaches to my window via suction cups. Every morning I put about a tablespoon out for them. The male came grabbed as many as he could in his mouth, flew over our roof and took them to the nest. He would do this 2 or 3 times and then eat himself. Suddenly they are gone! No one is in the box , so I did check it today. A nest, but no evidence of life except bird poop on the opening. Wonder what happened? If they come back next year I will revisit this sight and take notes.
