Wrens destroyed the 6 eggs from the first Bluebird nest attempt. The bluebirds moved to my other box where they had two successful broods and the wrens stayed in the original box and also had two broods. Sparrows were at a minimum again this year due to c |
It was a good year, no problems with sparrows or predators. My birds were more maintenance free than ever due to the lack of sparrows. |
Is it normal to have one infertile egg for each nesting attempt? My birds are losing one almost every time no matter how many eggs are laid. |

Sparrows. On the 20 trail they didn't kill any bluebirds, but I continoulsy was removing nests, eggs and young from three boxes. In one box they killed swallows. I caught the male with a sticky trap. |

This year it was cold wet weather in mid-May. We lost 86 nestlings between May 20th and May 23th. Most of the chicks were between 10 and 12 day old. |

We had a Red Tail Hawk also monitoring the Bluebird houses
One of the bluebirds used one house to perch on and watch for the hawk so the mate could come and go safely into the other house to bring food for the young birds |
